About Me
I consider myself a recent college grad, but it’s been 1.5 years since I graduated and my 24-year-old self can’t believe it all just yet. I’ve held various attitudes towards food and health, everything from hyper-fixated to complete apathy. After finally realizing that I was self-destructing, it was time to come clean.
I still loooove to work out and break a sweat, but foods sometimes hold a bit of anxiety for me. On top of my many, sometimes hilarious, neurotic tendencies, these food issues become food for thought as I try to reach my goal weight. My idea of health is finding what works for you, and if you don’t know what works for you then you’re best bet is trial and error. As much as I love food blogs, there are many times when I have to keep myself in check and remember 1>it might’ve worked for them, but not for me (or won’t) and 2>no one person can pressure you into a change in your lifestyle. I simply will not give into restriction again. I believe in moderation for the foods that I know I can moderate, but for the ones I can’t? I think it best to not have them around. Simple as that.
My food philosophy tends to produce lots of whole-foods meals, less processed ones and a lot of salads. I’m a big fan of just making your regular chicken dinner into a salad. Everything tastes better on a bed of spinach!!
Everyone’s health journey is different and I’m happy to go about my merry (if sometimes frantic) way. I’m a sucker for kickboxing and running, but I’d love to branch out as well. Besides working out and eating, I also work a desk job writing press releases. I’m surprised by how much I like my job some days. It’s a strange, surreal snapshot of the world, to be sure. I’m also working towards applying to grad school for art administration, which (if I got a job in the field) would be my absolute dream.
I happen to love art (Gustav Klimt, Joseph Cornell, Sigmar Polke and Ann Hamilton — to name a few), language, sarcasm, neuroses, cognitive science and all kinds of spacey-pop music! If you’re interested in any of those, I’d be downright giddy to talk about them with you!
